Challenge

The GREIPL Group, a contract manufacturer of high-tech products in sectors such as medical technology, laser technology and microscopy, moved into new, state-of-the-art headquarters – and with that came a wide range of technical requirements: the production areas had to be kept at a constant, stable temperature, large extraction systems had to be installed and a functional shading system implemented; in addition, there were numerous other trades that needed to be co-ordinated. It was clear from the outset that all these areas should not exist side by side as isolated solutions, but should be integrated into a single, seamless system.

Solution

Using LOXONE, a comprehensive building automation system has been implemented that connects all the building services within the company premises:

Energy management: Full integration of the company’s own photovoltaic system, enabling heat pumps and air conditioning to be intelligently controlled using the electricity generated on-site

Concrete core activation: Enables comfortable cooling in summer and heating in winter via the same infrastructure
Charging infrastructure: Full integration of the in-house charging points – the fleet, 80 per cent of which is electric, is powered directly by self-generated solar electricity via the Loxone energy management system
Temperature monitoring: Implemented using OneWire sensors for reliable monitoring of the production areas
Lighting control: Fully integrated via DALI
User rights management: Department heads are granted specific access to the functional areas relevant to them, whilst the production manager retains a complete overview via the app.

We wanted a single system to manage everything. We can make the most of our fleet – 80 per cent of which is electric – by using the electricity we generate ourselves via the LOXONE energy management system.
