Challenge
The aim was to create a home in which comfort, security and energy efficiency blend seamlessly – from secure access, through automated lighting and shading, to the smart use of self-generated solar power. The key requirement was that all the building systems should communicate with one another, so that the residents would have as little as possible to do manually.
Solution
LOXONE has been used to create a seamless smart home system that connects all areas of the house:
Entrance area: Access via video intercom, badge or personalised door code for post and visitors
Living/kitchen area: Motion-sensor-controlled lighting with switchable lighting scenes
Shading: fully automatic control based on the sun’s position and wind speed
Bedroom & dressing room: discreet motion-sensor lighting for the night, automatic lighting in the walk-in wardrobe
Morning routine: touchscreen alarm clock with automatic voice announcement of the day’s temperature via the audio server, as well as automatic activation of the towel radiator
Technology & energy: Photovoltaic system that automatically uses surplus electricity for hot water, the dishwasher and the washing machine
Office & living areas: integrated track lighting system by Molto Luce, controlled via LOXONE lighting scenes for focused work
Operation: centralised control via tablet and app, supplemented by music playback throughout the house (including in the utility room)

The great thing about a LOXONE home is that everything works automatically – the whole system is interconnected. I don’t have to worry about a thing, and if I do want to switch something on or off manually, I can do so at any time using my tablet or the app.
