Casa Botelho, is “part interior design practice, part the most fabulous home in London and part furniture design” says the eponymous character behind this beautiful home, Mr. João Botelho.
Having completely remodelled all four floors of this Victorian mansion, João has transformed this previously tired and tatty home into a unique, dramatic space, effortlessly blending timeless, period features with contemporary design to create‘“masculine-luxe” throughout.

Meet João
“As an interior designer, style is key. I’ve always had an interest in home automation, but it was crucial that the technology was discreet and complimentary. Having my home fitted with Loxone’s complete smart home system means I can effortlessly control my lights, heating, blinds and music within one app – without compromising on the overall design.
When my friends and family visit they are impressed by how integrated the technology is – and surprised when I tell them how affordable the system was. They believe it was the most expensive purchase for my property when it’s more likely to have been my bath!”

If you’ve ever been in a house that looks like a ‘show home’, you’ll know exactly the feeling of unease that washes over you as you tentatively perch on the edge of an unyielding sofa, terrified of touching anything. Is Casa Botelho like this? Not at all!
Upon arrival, you’ll receive the very warmest of welcomes, especially from Oscar and Prince, João’s utterly adorable (and arguably most fashionable) cocker spaniels. Despite the spotless, pristine interior, this is a friendly, happy home.
A love for lighting
João’s passion for lighting is irrefutable and his appreciation of how lighting can transform spaces is very apparent throughout Casa Botelho. João is truly a master at creating drama and contrast within a room through the clever use of light. In fact, if there’s anyone who can get away with referring to filament bulbs as ‘utterly sexy’, it’s João.
It makes sense then, that a self-confessed lover of all things ‘James Bond’ would need a smart lighting system able to bring such visions to fruition.
When asked what he particularly enjoys about having home automation in his home, João remarked: “Loxone controls not only lighting but also the under-floor heating, cameras, music, front door lock and electric blinds. I can even open the front door for you while on holidays in the Maldives; how cool is that! We loved working with the Loxone team and prices were much more affordable than any other systems in the market.”
