An Interview with Lee Morris
Hear from professional Loxone installer Lee Morris discussing his experience using the AC Control Air, its strengths, and how it’s improving air conditioning installations with automation.
Hi everyone! We’re joined today by Lee from IM Electrical, a Loxone Partner for more than 10 years. Today, we’re going to ask him a few questions about the AC Control Air.
As this year’s summer was one of the warmest we have experienced in the UK, we need to get some control over our AC units to prepare for next year. Let’s discuss the AC Control Air, compare it with other alternatives on the market and see what Lee’s professional experience is.
So Lee, you have already installed a few AC Control Airs… What would you say your experience with them has been so far? How does it compare to other systems? Is it easy and quick to install? What do you think?
So it’s a very, very simple system to use. I was quite surprised the first time I installed one. I had around 7 or 8 to install at once, I connected it up nice and simple, plugged it straight into the P1P2 on a Daikin system. Drag and drop to configure, and then spent about two hours proving it worked as I couldn’t believe it was that easy!
After realising it really was that easy, the rest of them were installed in about half an hour, and it took longer to take the cover off than it did to fit and commission them.
So yeah, it gets a double thumbs up from me as a device. It is beautifully in tune with Loxone, what it’s about and programming it. And now, I keep a couple of them on board at all times, because they’re lifesavers really. So a great system.
…it took longer to take the cover off than it did to fit and commission them.
And if you were to consider the price-to-performance and ease of installation – how would you say it compares to other systems?
Well it’s better, yeah, the strengths we have found with it, is obviously you don’t necessarily have to cable conventional controllers in the commercial setting. Domestically, a lot of people are using the infrared systems now, so it’s just as simple to have one of those in the unit as it still works with the remote access and you’ve got a fail-safe in that sense.
And the beauty of that over a conventional control system is you can have different brands on the same control system, rather than if you’ve got half the building that’s Daikin and other half Mitsubishi, where you’ll have a Daikin master controller and Mitsubishi master controller. Whereas with Loxone, you can tie them all together and you can have any brands working under 1 hood, and AC engineers will enjoy that facility as well.
So yeah, and when you tell them you haven’t got to run cables, you get a double thumbs up from them too! So everyone is a winner.
Awesome. Thank you for sharing Lee.
