Configure your Virgin Media Super Hub

Find out how to configure your Virgin Media Super Hub to access your Loxone Miniserver over the Internet, so you can always access your system no matter where you are!

Remote access is available

Security Notice

Before you start on the setup of your router to allow remote access to your Miniserver please make sure that you have already set your Miniserver to a static IP address and have changed the password. By following the guide below your Miniserver becomes available from the Internet and a using the default password is a security risk.

Setting up Port Forwarding

Port forwarding opens up a port in your firewall and as the name suggests forwards any requests on this port to a device on your Local Area Network (LAN), i.e. the Miniserver.

The Virgin Media Super Hub only supports one-to-one port forwarding. This means that whichever port that the Minserver uses on the LAN, will be identical to the port on which it will be available externally. The Miniserver by default uses port 80, please refer to our admin interface guide which shows you how to change the port number, we recommend using something like 7777, which is also used in the later steps of this guide.

Please also note the Virgin Media Super Hub does not allow you to set up a dynamic DNS address through their device. In order to do this the router must be put into Modem mode and a separate router must be installed with dynamic DNS settings in place.

Step 1: Login to Router

Open the Virgin Media Super Hub by typing into your browser. Click on Advanced Settings.

Step 2: Open Port Forwarding

Next, click on Port Forwarding.

Step 3: Configure new rule

Under the Add Rule heading, enter a name, a port number, and ensure the Protocol selected is TCP&UDP.
Enter the IP address of your Miniserver, then click Add Rule > Apply.

Configuring Dynamic DNS

As the Virgin Media Super Hub does not allow you to setup dynamic DNS in the router you can either use the router in Modem mode with another router or you can use the Loxone Cloud DNS service.

Reminder: Set external URL in Loxone Config

After setting up dynamic DNS on your router please remember to also set the external URL in the Loxone Config for your Miniserver so that apps automatically know how to access the Miniserver remotely. For more information please go to remote configuration guide.
