Burglar alarm

Information on how to set up an alarm system

Get more information about alarms

Introduction

The burglar alarm block can be used to set up an alarm system in your house with Loxone. You can use the motion sensors you already have in your house to control your lighting to also trigger your alarm so you do not have to double up on motion sensors in every room!

See below for more information on how to set up a basic alarm system and also information about the user interface.

Basic setup

To set up an alarm with Loxone is straightforward. First off add in the Burglar alarm block to your program, then connect the inputs that you have wired to your motion sensors to I1 which is for movement sensors (look in the overview section below for more information on the inputs, outputs and parameters). You can also connect window and door sensors like in this example.

Next connect an input, either a switch or perhaps an iButton to the Tr input to arm and disarm the alarm.

Finally connect an output that is wired to a sounder for example to Q2. You can make use of existing outputs such as mulitroom audio or your lights to flash them and play loud music on trigger of one of the outputs Q1-Q6.

Overview

Inputs

Description

I1-I4

Digital input

Triggered by the detectors, I1 - motion, I2 - glass breakage, I3 - window contacts, I4 - door contacts, I5 - other sensors.
Tr

Trigger input

Arms and disarms the alarm system.
A

Digital input

Is used to arm the system, but cannot be used to disarm it.
V

Digital input

Used to arm the alarm after a certain time delay - which can be set using the parameter Da.
R

Reset

Turns off the activated outputs (Q1-Q6) and disarms the alarm system.
C

Digital input

Can be used to stop the alarm
Dis Disable Locks all the inputs and the output Q in its current state. This could be used, for example, as a child lock.

Outputs

Description

Q

Digital output

Returns the current state of the system: armed (on) or disarmed (off).
Q1-Q6

Digital outputs

Signalling devices should be connected to the digital outputs Q1-Q6. These signal outputs can be delayed using the parameter inputs D1-D6.
Examples:
Q1 - Alarmed but silent
Q2 - Sounder
Q3 - Strobe
Q4 - Internal sounder
Q5 - External sounder
Q6 - Call or email

AQ

Analogue output

Number of the triggered sensors. When multiple detectors are connected to one input, these are counted separately.
Qt

Digital output

This output is for a test alarm and can be activated using the parameter Tm.
AQr

Analogue output

Shows the time remaining before the alarm will be armed if the system is armed with a delay.
TQ

Text output

Tells you which sensor has been activated. The output gives the name, date and time.

Parameters

Description

tl_files/loxone/documentation/EN-UK/function_blocks/remanencebattery.png

Remenance

Sets the function block to be remanent, e.g. return to the last known scene after a power cut
Da

Arming delay

Arming delay for input V.
D1-D6

Output delays

Alarm delays for each output Q1-Q6.

Ti

Input pulse extension time Time in seconds by which an input pulse is extended. This pulse extension is used for processing sensors which have been activated at the same time. If Ti is 0 there is no extension.

T2

Second sensor trigger for silent alarm

Time (s) in which a second sensor must be triggered for more than a silent alarm to be activated. The silent alarm will be triggered on the first sensor and will stop at T2 if a second hasn't been triggered. The second sensor can be connected to the same input as the first.

Note: T2 cannot be longer than D1, and the number of active detectors must be more or equal to two. If a detector only gives a short pulse then Ti can be used. If T2 is zero then this function is not used.

Tm

Test alarm input option

Activate the test alarm option by either negating Tm (default is off) or connecting a constant of value 1.

Dm

Maximum alarm duration Must be greater than the longest time delay (parameters D1-D6). The silent alarm will stay on if parameter Ca is off or if a sensor is still active.

Ca

Automatic off option When this is on the alarm will be acknowledged (input C) after the maximum duration (Dm) has been reached.

li

Window start state option Takes in to account the open/closed state of any window or door contacts before the alarm was triggered. The alarm will only be triggered if a change of state occurs with sensors connected to inputs I3 or I4 when armed.

User interface

The last 40 detectors to be triggered are listed in the burglar alarm user interface. You can arm the alarm through the app either immediately or with a delay. You can also acknowledge and disarm the alarm through the app.

Sensors that are triggered by breaking a contact must either be inverted, or if all the sensors of this type are connected to a single input, then that input can itself be inverted.
