Auto Configuration

 OVERVIEW

Auto Configuration is a powerful tool that will allow you to select features that you want to automatically get configured for you. It allows you to skip all the basic config, and allows you to head straight towards the project-specific requests, without you having to go through the same process as you would every other time. By using auto config, you are essentially getting a staple foundation config file that you can then build upon.

PREPARATION FOR AUTO CONFIG

In order for Auto Config to function properly, you must do a little bit of setup beforehand. You must ensure that your peripherals have a room and category assigned. The reasoning for this is because Auto config knows that a touch switch can controls lights, but it also knows that it does music and blinds but not that you don’t have a music server. In order to customise this, click on the peripheral in question and then, in the properties tab, there will be “Room” and “Category”. Ensure these are set to what you require and make sure you have completed this for all your devices. Do keep in mind that if you are doing things such as blind control, you do have to set the digital/analogue outputs up so Auto Config knows what they are for. See examples below.

USING AUTO CONFIG

Once you have completed the basic setup, that is 80% of the work done for Auto Config. Now you can go to the “My Projects” tab at the top and press the Auto Config button. If any of your Loxone devices are missing room or category information, you will be notified. You can choose to ignore this (If there are spare devices) or click “Change now” to cycle through each device with missing information.


Once you have addressed any missing information, you will presented with feature selection. This dialogue will allow you to pick which rooms get auto configured, and which functionality you want to be configured for said room. If Auto Config cannot find a suitable item for that feature, it will simply not provide a tick box, but a dash instead.

Lighting: This function will automatically create a Lighting Controller, lighting moods and connect the relevant inputs and outputs. (E.g. Touch Switch, Smart Actuator)

Shading: This function will automatically create an automatic blinds module and link it with the relevant device (if applicable).

Heating / Cooling: This function will create an Intelligent Room Controller for that room and attach any relevant devices. (E.g. Valve Actuator, Shading block)

Music: This function will automatically create a Music Server zone for that room and connect the relevant devices. (E.g. Touch Switch)

Alarm Clock: This function will automatically configure an alarm clock and connect it to any relevant Music Zones and Lighting Controllers.

Leaving Room: This function will automatically a double-click shutdown for that room if there is a relevant Lighting Controller in the same room. (i.e; Turns lights off, stops music playback, Closes blinds)

Peripherals: This is a generic option which configure other devices such as Car Chargers, Media Controllers, etc.


Once you have selected all the features you want Auto Config to use, you can proceed and will be greeted with Functions selection. This dialogue allows you to further customise the functionality you want automatically configured. These are primarily “advanced” features that extend the base functionality of the Loxone System.

Shading Frost/Storm Protection: This functional will automatically configure protection for any relevant shading blocks in the event that it is either raining or too cold outside.

Goodnight: This function creates a “Night” operating mode. This allows any bedroom switch connected through a Lighting Controller to have a triple-click function to turn the house off at night. This will turn Light and Music off, resets Room Controllers, Arms burglar alarm without Motion Sensors, and disables Media Controllers.

Intelligent Temperature Controller: If your configuration will require the use of an ITC, you will need to select this option.

Burglar Alarm: This function will create and configure an alarm for the house, it will connect any relevant Inputs & Outputs. (E.g. Door & Window Contact, Motion Sensor, Lighting Controller, Etc.)

Fire and Water Alarm: This function will monitor any temperature input for sudden spikes in temperature, will sync with any Smoke Detector Air devices and monitors any Water Sensors to detect fires and floods.

Whole House Overview: This function will create any relevant ‘Overview’ blocks. (E.g. Shading Overview, Lighting Overview, etc.)

Away & Entertaining Modes: This function creates two operating modes ‘Away’ & ‘Entertaining’ which can be used to control Lighting, Music, Shading, etc.

Panic: This function allows you to attach a specific button to a panic switch which will trigger the Burglar Alarm.

Climate Controller: If your configuration will require the use of a Climate Controller, you will need to select this option.

Finally, you can then hit “Configure” and you will see Auto Configure work away in the background.

POST AUTO CONFIG

A brief window will pop up informing you of the creation of some “To-Do’s” that you will need to address in order to finalise your configuration.


The one final step is to go through these “To-Do’s” in order to complete any manual tasks that auto config cannot do. Tasks such as, if you are using relay blind control, you will need to connect the 2 relays being used for the up and down motion of the blinds. This is because Auto Config can’t tell which one is up and which is down. Here are some examples of the manual intervention, alongside where to find the To-dos.

Here is a To-do is mentioning that you need to setup the heating logic for the Intelligent Temperature Controller.


This is mentioning that you need to connect the outputs manually as Auto Config doesn’t refer to text, it just goes off of rooms and categories. You will also need to configure the specific parameters for that room.
